Bring the whole family and join us for some of our new outdoor adventures. That’s who we are: family, and we would love to share the beauty and authenticity of Chilean Patagonia with you. We offer:
Hiking/Trekking: Explore the Cerro Castillo National Park and see one of the world’s most beautiful chain of mountains, hike in the Coyhaique Natural Reserve above the tree line or climb to the Lago Paloma viewpoint for an expansive view of three lakes and jagged mountains. Our well trained guides are ready to take you on a day trip to your liking, suitable for any age or ability.
River rafting: Take a plunge down one of the region’s excellent rafting rivers. Take a leisurely float down the Paloma River, a scenic and exciting paddle down the rapids of the Simpson River or get the adrenaline pumping while shooting down the Baker River, boasting the highest water-volume of any Chilean river.
Kayaking: Join our guide on a paddle through one of the area’s pristine mountain lakes or float down a gentle river in our new fleet of kayaks, while passing by waterfalls and gaping gorges and an occasional gaucho homestead. For the adrenaline junkie, we also offer whitewater kayaking on some of the more challenging rivers of Aisen.
Horseback riding: Departing on horseback from the lodge, you will climb into the hills about 6 miles to a beautiful spot for lunch and a viewpoint over Coyhaique. Your local gaucho guides will treat you to a typical gaucho barbeque cooked over a fire – and of course, a bottle of Chilean wine!
Mountain Biking: Come take advantage of our fleet of new Kona mountain bikes! Cross into the near-Argentine pampas along the Argentine border to the Valley of the Moon and marvel at the lunar landscape formed millions of years ago by volcanoes and glaciers. Or, talk with our guides and design your own ride. The options are endless on the rarely traveled roads leading to lakes, rivers and lush green valleys.
Chilean cooking classes: Let our Chilean culinary experts take you on a culinary adventure. Let us teach you to make Pisco Sours, Chilean Empanadas and traditional the traditional hot sauce – pebre.
Weaving classes: Learn to spin yarn, dye wool with mint leaves and calafate root or weave a poncho or scarf. Let us show you a Patagonian loom in action and why it is that wool is still the leading cloth here in Coyhaique.
Tours to the Marble Chapel: Join us on a full day trip to Lake General Carrera (the second largest lake in South America), and embark on a boat ride to the famous “marble chapel” - a series of magnificent natural marble caves and vaulted formations carved out over centuries on the shoreline of the lake.
Photo tours: Bring your camera and we’ll take you to some of the region’s most picture-worthy places. We’ll track down an Andean condor, visit a local market or search for the perfect landscape.
Birdwatching: Grab your bird book, and a local expert will accompany you to find some of the many birds that inhabit this area of Patagonia.
