FISHING: Great
The fishing has been very good this past 3 weeks, the beetles are out and trout are feeding eagerly on them. We are mainly using big dry flies like Chernobyl ants, big hoppers and any kind of beetle. Rivers are all in great shape and the run off is almost gone totally for the summer. Although there is been same windy days, it is early season and it's part of the ruggedness of Patagonia.
The small creeks are very active on the caddis and may flies nymphs. The average fish on the lakes and the big rivers has been in the 18” range and the fish are very aggressive after the long winter. We have been having our good Chilean clients this past month and they really enjoy the fishing and the great lunches that Rumbo puts together.
It's all about having fun and and a get away from the big cities for the weekend.
Spring is definitely showing; everything is green and the lupines are blooming - we can see colors like purple, white, pink and red. Rumbo Patagon is looking forward to having our American clients this season so they can enjoy the fishing and the life style here in the Chilean Patagonia. Best wishes for the HOLIDAYS
Your southern Hemisphere amigos.

FISHING: Great
Joan and Ray Henderson, from Tulsa, Oklahoma, spent last week fishing with our Rumbo staff, and had the fishing trip of a lifetime!!! Before we started fishing Ray said that he'd never a caught a fish over 20 inches in his 15 years of fishing. When he was finished he had caught over 20 fish all over 20 inches, in one day! The Rio Mañihuales really produced some beautiful fish that day. Ray hooked all those fish using a Chernobyl Ant casting towards the bank and drifting the fly under overhanging branches. Joan caught a very nice Brown (around 7 pounds) using a size 12 Parachute Adams. That Brown was five pounds bigger than any fish she had caught before visiting Rumbo Patagon. Definitely it was one of the better days on the river and I think the river will continue to produce great fish all season. It's a safe bet to say that Joan and Ray will return next year to fish our famed Mañihuales. Come and down... the food is great, and the fishing is even better.

FISHING: Great
Our fishing season started just a month ago, the weather is getting warm and the trout are extremely aggressive. We usually fish dries most of the day, and many times the browns will leap 10 inches out of the water to take the flies on the Ñirehuao or Simpson River. 6 to 8 pounds are the most frequent size, but if you try with a woolly, you can get a brown easily over 20 ponds on some lakes and rivers.
Fishing on the Aisen river last week proved most effective for a group from England where one guy caught five fish in five cast using a size 4 stimulator. The past few weeks have been great for dry fly fishing with top-surface action going on most of the day. Many of our clients have hooked some larger fish using leeches and wooly buggers.
The weather has been great and the food even better. See you down here!!!
